Why is composite siding good for Massachusetts homes?

Wed, Sep 27, 2017

Everlast 2 planksMany homes in Massachusetts date back decades and even centuries when wood clapboard in shingles were the only available siding options. Unlike other parts of the country we feel a responsibility to uphold traditional elements of our homes including the siding. However as homeowners in the 21st century we also have to weigh in the cost of maintenance, and the hassle of dealing with siding upkeep. In a perfect world we would all choose beautiful wood clapboard such as cedar. But having limited budgets, time, and energy wooden clapboard probably isn't the best option for your home. And statistics show your neighbors agree. Over the past 10 years the use of wooden clapboard in Massachusetts has shrunk tremendously as a percentage of all siding usage.

Other options such as asphalt siding, asbestos siding, masonite siding and aluminum siding have come and gone with good reason. Currently the only reasonable siding options available in Massachusetts are vinyl siding, fiber cement siding, and composite siding such as Everlast.

Download a comparison guide of the three available siding options here.

All of these siding products have their pros and cons.  Most homeowners find it's helpful to evaluate the following 3 critera:

  1. How much maintenance am I willing to live with?
  2. What will the life time cost of my siding be (initial installation plus repair, maintenance, or future replacement)
  3. How traditional do I want me siding to be?

Answering these 3 questions will put you well on your way to choosing the best siding for you.  When you weigh out the benefits we hope you find that Everlast is the right siding product for your home, and if so we'll be here to help!
