Cost of Vinyl Siding

Wed, Sep 27, 2017

The cost of vinyl siding can vary tremendously, depending on a number of factors.  These factors include the amount of preparation work needed, the amount of trim requiring replacement, the square footage of the home, and the material used. When shopping for an affordable siding solution, vinyl siding is generally considered a budget-friendly option. However, there are many situations, where vinyl siding may not be the most cost-effective option available.

The first step in determining, which option works best, is to learn how much preparation work will be required. The age of the home and the number of doors, windows have a direct impact on these costs.  The older the home, the more likely the chance will be of uncovering underlying rot.  The more doors and windows a home has, the more trim work will need to be performed.   Both home trim and age can dramatically impact the projects cost.

Next, determine the size of the surface area to be replaced.  The buildings height will need to be multiplied by its length to come up with the square footage of coverage needed.  Then, perform the same calculation for each side of the home requiring replacement.  Adding up all sides will produce the total square footage of siding needed.  The more square footage needed, the greater the cost.

The material used in installation also impacts the projects cost.  There are numerous materials and manufacturers available, each with compelling solutions.  Even within the vinyl material category, there are numerous options and products available.  For homeowners, the key to choosing the right product lies in the quality and durability desired.  Composite siding from Everlast falls in the middle of the cost spectrum for initial cost but on the lower end of the cost spectrum for lifetime cost (cost of ownership).  Everlast requires less maintenance, and remains stable without needing to be painted--guaranteed!.  One of its benefits is its rotting protection.

When choosing the right material, few home owners take into account the costs of supplementary materials needed for the actual installation.  Some materials require special nails, corners, trim and other fittings.  Other materials require a special underlayment.  These costs can quickly add up and contribute a consequential amount to the projects total cost.

The costs of installing siding do not stop with the initial installation.  There can be incremental costs associated with re-painting, or re-staining, and other maintenance.  Fortunately, solutions like Everlast, help to reduce or eliminate these costs.

Everlast siding has a lifetime fade protection warranty, eliminating a future potential cost (See the actual warranty for details).  When the total cost of installation and maintenance are taken into account, Everlast shines as a compelling solution.  Regardless of what siding solution homeowners go with, its important that they look at the upfront, hidden, and deferred costs of each product.
