Composite Siding For All Kinds of Weather

Wed, Sep 27, 2017

If there's one thing you can be certain about it's that you can never be certain about the weather in New England.

New England has some of the most variable weather of any place in the country, everything from scorching heat to rain, hail and freezing cold - and that's just before lunch.

Perhaps that's a bit of an exaggeration, but the truth of the matter is that homes in the Northeast must be prepared for virtually any type of weather at almost any time of the year. This variable weather can be especially hard on a home's siding.

Siding is meant to not only protect the occupants of the home but also to protect the structural integrity of the building itself. That's why it is vital that homes in the Northeast have the best siding available.

Two common home siding materials, wood Wood Rotand vinyl, simply don't hold up well over the long run in the Northeast. Both types of materials tend to crack and break when exposed to repeated expansion and contraction, which pretty much defines conditions here.

Aluminum siding is another possibility, but again, this type of siding may not be the most durable for the Northeast portion of the country. Colored or patterned aluminum siding is prone to fading and, even worse, sometimes chalks and runs down onto brick or other siding materials below the aluminum. Siding color fading is one of the primary complaints against aluminum siding.

Siding color fading can be alleviated to some extent by purchasing vinyl-clad aluminum siding, but such siding can be very costly.

Aluminum is also subject to dents - this is a special problem in areas prone to high winds - and the seals between joints can break down over time, allowing water to penetrate.

Cement fiber siding can be a goodFiber Cement choice for the Northeast.  This type of siding comes in natural wood patterns that are difficult to distinguish from the real McCoy. The two primary problems with this type of siding are its weight (requiring additional wall supports on some homes) and its cost.

There is one final type of siding that solves the problems presented by all the previous sidings, and that is composite siding.

Composite siding is a polymer siding that comes in a multitude of wood patterns as well as colors. And because the colors are part of the polymer base, they cannot fade with time or with exposure to sun or other elements.

Everlast is one of the premier suppliers of composite siding here in the Northeast. Everlast composite siding does not dent; it is lightweight, easy to install, extremely cost-effective; and it is not subject to rot or insect damage. It is also guaranteed for 20 years or more.

When it comes to battling the elements here in the Northeast, composite siding wins the fight in a knockout.
